really doubt this has anything to do with it ..
but ..
the horn contact ring on the back of the steering wheel...
get torn up.
on *all* vanagons that fine metal ring needs to be lubed once in a great
while.
Basically no horn contact rings in vanagons are getting lubed..
and ..
I've seen them ripped into long shreds of metal..
I really doubt it has anything to do with your issue, but couldn't help
saying, check or think about that part.
Like electrical gremlins could be living there.
