Fairly simple, straight forward. Mine did the same thing. I just replaced that a month or so ago. The "adjustment" will come from cutting the stranded cable (front end > of van AND cable) where it goes into the barrel adjuster with the allen nut in it. The end of that is where the final adjustment occurs, sliding the "male" prong forward/aft to get the right > cable tension. I think I cut the cable 3 times before I got it just right. Just didn't want to err on the side of too short. Leave enough of the "male" sticking out the front end of that adjustment > nut clamp so that you can shorten the cable by moving the "male" further forward before tightening the adjustment bolt.
