A common cause for a tranny to be stuck in first or second is the pin
breaking off the lever for those two gears. Tranny has to come apart. For
the front axle are we talking a shaft to a wheel or the center drive shaft?
Center drive shaft likely has vibration problems. Front shaft out van cannot
be rolled without bearing damage.

Dear List

I have the opportunity to purchase a clean 86 Syncro with the tranny stuck
in 2nd gear and for some unknown reason, the front axle disconnected.

Question to the learned Bretheren - what in your most experienced view -
might be wrong with the tranny?  (FYI - It was replaced with a rebuilt
tranny in 2002.)

Why would the front axle be disconnected?
There is a drive shaft and a re-man front axle shaft - still need to find
another.

Questions are because - I DON'T KNOW THE ANSWERS  - but these are serious
issues and I seek the wisdom of this wise and experienced Clan.
