Al this talk about transporter and vanagon L and GL badges last week spurred me to action. I took my sorry-looking Vanagon Diesel L badge that hasn't seen a micron of chrome in a decade and scanned it in high resolution. I drew as accurate an outline (took about 6 hours) as I possibly could and converted it to a file for a vinyl cutter, who cut it out in very shiny chrome (and yes, Alistair, I did ask about the gold but it was a special order and will come later). The results, applied to my badge, were spectacular even though the sign shop cut the whole thing about 5 mm too long overall and there are some places where I need to tweak it here and there. I painted the badge black overall before applying the chrome so it looks like the parts guy at the VW counter just handed it to me.

It sure looks good on the back of my westy. Write and I will send you an image. I plan to offer this service for others besides diesel westies, so let me know what you are looking for.

Jim
