Ed, VW in its infinite wisdom changed the design of the lower gill clips late in production so you most like have these new style clips either by default or someone has ordered up all new ones from VW and changed them to the new style. Nevertheless here's how they work > in the centre of the clip where the screw used to be is instead a push pin. You must use a small round metal drift to push the pin out. It will go out the back and fall on the ground if your lucky. Anyways not to worry about loosing the pins BECAUSE you can put them back using #10 phillips, flat head, sheet metal screws. Mystery solved !
