Be happy you are still un hurt. That tire wasn't sufficient when new
If you want a 205/70-14 the best choice now is the General Altimax with a 98 load index. Check Tire Rack great price. Get all four. As for LT or load range C tires be aware that a number of them have ratings too low. I have seen 95 Load index/1453 ratings. Still not enough.

Hi David,
Just realized that I didn't answer the question you asked me.
The tires on the van (from the PO) are: jetzon genesis M+S P205/70R14 93S.
I believe that these are passenger tires. I need to do some research to
find up how much pressure should be in them.
Two are dry rotted, and two look in good condition. Since at the moment
I can only afford to replace two I was going to try what someone else
suggested for a good ride.
I believe that suggestion was two passenger tires up front and two truck
tires in the rear (at least until I can afford another two tires).
Does this sound sensible?
Cheers,
Harry

If you are considering passenger tires, they should inflate to 44 psi and have a load index of at least 96 (many people will still say that is totally inadequate). You can get that load rating in the 215/70r14 size, just make sure the tire will inflate to 44. 225/70r14 is another passenger tire that will fit most vans and is rated to 98 but is an inch taller and the spare probably wouldn't fit in the clamshell if you get 5 tires. What tires are you replacing?

If you don't know the difference, you are better off sticking with the original specs. which limits you to the Continental, a Nokian, or a Hankook in a 185r14 or 195r14 size. Yokohama makes one too (Y356), but I think it is the worst tire of them all. There might a couple others, but not many.
