The trick, if you can call it that, is to hold your hand so that the oil drains off your fingers instead of down your sleeve. It's not really a big deal. A two paper towel job at most, more likely one. The problem I see with all the proposed solutions except removing the filter (vis a vis mess) is that afterwards you have a piece of messy gear to deal with. And the small but noticeable amount of oil that falls out when you remove the filter is harder to keep confined in my experience than the flow from the drain hole. Yours, David |
