I've had good luck using 3m weather strip adhesive aka "gorilla snot"due to its color its been useful for a number of things mostly gluing cork gaskets to valve covers and other similar applications works 10x better than any silicone gasket sealer the only pain is removing it to replace gaskets due to checking/setting valve lash three times a weekend racing friday,saturday and sundays then felpro came out with a wonderful re useable system

An alternative might be to use a good adhesive to permanently mount the rubber strips in the clamps.
