The problem with too much oil is that it gets beaten into a froth- so it technically becomes a phneudraulic substance. That means the air in the oil makes the oil less efficient than oil alone at cooling. That is why engine manufactures insist on a maximum oil level. JMHO ed- who can't spell pheudralicks, phew-dralic ?
