my my we are having fun now. yes....there's more weight on the front axle of a 2WD vanagon than on the rear. You wouldn't think so with a rear engine.. but weight distribution is roughly 54 % front, 46 % rear .. Thus they are slightly traction-challenged in the slippery stuff.

big heavy things in the rear ? ...rear brake drums ? We could talk about unsprung wieght, but let's not.

and tires for vanagons. that's worse than talking about religion. but we've been over that ad nauseum recently.

Oil temp would not normally be sensed at the oil cooler , for gague purposes that is. You want to take your reading at the hottest part of the engine oil. Coolant temp senders are positioned to read the highest temp of coolant coming out of the engine, for example.

You need some 'random output' indicator or gauge of some kind.. something not quite 'linear' so there's lots to ponder as you drive along.

let's do that ..come up with some 'randomly generatated' display .. takes inputs from 4 places and scrambles them, but inconsistenly and non-linearly.

Idle questions .. now you are having an idle issue !! ? oh no, here we go again..

btw.. I've had two 84 1.9 waterboxer vanagons crap out in flight recnetly. and it was no igntion............... due to , apparently, a bad Idle Stabiizer. In both cases, disconnecting it and bypassing it got igntion happening again.
