As said before, to each his own. Personally, I think it's a great idea on a Syncro. Sure, you could use a "bulletproof" two-part epoxy paint but I think the Line-X will still fare better in the bush and talk about a no brainer for washing--hit it with the hose and it doesn't matter if you need the power washer. Not to mention, NO waxing...

Lift or drag? I don't think either is on the minds of any too many Syncro owners. The Vanagon is an Anti-Aerodynamic Shoe box that sometimes can move at frightening speeds down a highway. Even a Wolfsburg is so high off the ground the air going underneath it is killing the performance (and the MPG). Throw a Syncro in the equation, add a little lift, some big @$$ tires, and WHOA! At that point, aerodynamics and MPG are out the door. Personally, as long as I know I can jump that curb, roll over that parking block, drive full speed with the right side completely in engulfed in a really long deep puddle (thank god for the viscous coupler), and traverse any good southern mud pit (aka- side of the road during hurricane evacuation), heck I'm good.

That being said, that would not have been my color of choice but it looks pretty rugged and manly so it matches the Synco's mission. Heck, it's a Westy so odds are higher he's actually going out in the "woods" with it. I was thinking about doing the same thing to my SYNCRO but just looking at logistics, rust, and of course cost (especially in comparison to that expensive two-part epoxy paint).

BTW, does anyone KNOW what that costs to get a whole van Line-X covered? Would be interesting to know.

It takes all kinds and more power to the owner for doing their thing. Hey, it's still a Vanagon and that's all that matters.

TJ
