I have these same tires - 205-70x14 tires from General - on my 88GL and they are just fine. 99% of my driving is on pavement, and the van handles well on these tires. But these tires DO NOT belong on a Westy. They are, after all, a passenger car tire, and while they work OK for the more lightly loaded straight vans, Westies, in my opinion are simply to heavy. The tires also lack the stiff sidewall strength the Westy requires for good, safe handling.

My $0.02.
