The Headlight OFF feature with Ignition OFF was introduced in 1971 model year on Beetles, Ghias, Buses, Type 3s and Type 4s. This feature has been on all VWs ever since, thus no need for a Headlight Alarm. -- Jim Thompson 84 GL 1.9 "Gloria" 84 Westfalia 2.1 "Ole Putt" 72 411 Station Wagon "Pug" 75 914 1.8 "Nancy" Full Timing Since March 1999 oldvolkshome@gmail.com http://www.oldvolkshome.com *********************************** On Thu, Jul 28, 2011 at 12:50 PM, Troy <colorworks@gci.net> wrote: > I have seen mention of headlight alarms before, and even went so far as to install an alarm when I had my dash out, but then discovered that my headlights go out when the ignition is off. I'm just wondering if they added this feature after a certain year? I have an 89, and my headlights will not stay on if the ignition is turned off. I believe the parking lights will come on though, and the alarm I installed is handy for this. Mostly those things are obnoxious, but a dead battery is well... more obnoxious;) > > Troy |
