Rust Demons VIII- The Floor Pan How much daylight should I see through the floor pan? Last night in class I pulled up the utilitarian rubber mats from the driver and passenger side of my POV Doka. The driver side had some kind of thick black coating that didn’t actually adhere to the floor pan, causing a massive amount of rust on the driver side. The passenger side had no rust or black goop. The coating could have been for insulation (sound/heat) and maybe have been of the substance some people coat the bed of their trucks with. Whatever it was, I think it exacerbated( good word, but even harder to spell than it is to pronounce) the entire rust phenomenon on the driver side. So, first I have to clean the mess up and see exactly how bad it is. Then a quick patch, or cut up some sheet metal and play Weld Man again. I like the arcing and sparking, but the smoke and occasional flames can be a bit alarming.

On another note, I saw on the internet where this fellow had a gate hinge problem with his truck like I did. So he went and cut the hinges on the gate to remove the gates to then fix the problem. Humm, I thought, I'm glad I just cut the hinge pins on mine. ed- I've got three more class sessions to go, and I haven't even tried painting yet!
