Back with I had my 1977 911 S, you could get such nice things as plastic lined lug nut sockets and jack point extensions. The jack point extensions were round steel discs about 3/8 thick that fit into the pocket on the top of the jack. They were welded to square stock that you inserted into the same style holes as the vanagon has for jacking. It was a good safe way to use a floor jack, and was out where you could see what was going on and not up under the car. Has anyone thought about or messed with those kind of things for a vanagon?
