Subject: Nylon zipper lube

Greetings vanagoners,

Just got back from 5 days in the Tetons and other places. We didn't take the westy because of too much gear (canoe and bikes) and an 18 y.o. kid. The mosquitoes were horrendous due to lots of snow melt runoff still occurring. We did see numerous Vanagons and westys from all over. Perhaps someone from this list for sure?

Anyway, the kid's tent zippers were not closing very well and he about stripped them out. We really needed to have zippers that close in order to wake up with any blood left. I kept thinking about the zippers and what to use to help them. I was looking for hard dish soap when I remembered I had a fresh bottle of White Lightning Clean Ride Self-cleaning WAX lube for bicycle chains. I applied it the the zipper as I worked it back and forth. Instant cure!!!! The zippers worked like new henceforth.

I thought I'd toss that to the list. Highly recommended if you are having zipper closure issues. It's a wax based lube so it doesn't accumulate dust like greasy lubes. It worked supreme. I obtained mine at REI but any bicycle store should carry it.

Good luck!! Ken Wyatt 82 westy SLC, UT
