I may be crazy but I believe that oil psi depends on compression and severity of operation of the engine. We ran a 16:1 compression up to 8300 rpm we preferred 40-60 oil psi. I have different lubes for different things my favorite penetrating oil is KROIL by kano laboratory, kar products super gel lube for cables, chains and roller assemblies it goes on like a thin spray then gels into a light grease.

I'm sure I'll get corrected if I'm wrong, but the problem with cold oil is not too much pressure, but the difficulty of the thick oil getting into the tiniest of spots that need lubrication. This may equate to "too high" pressure, but is suspect, not necessarily so.
