Then we should research how much zinc additive is correct.

Joe Gibbs Driven.. that oil company site has some #'s on their site about how much modern oils have and how much their zinc formulation oils have.

I wouldn't say using modern emissions oils by itself wipes out cams or lifters especially. More like neglect and abuse does that.

and ..fwiw .. there are people who are adamant that tdi's need really thin oils.. that using 15W40 would wipe out their cams. That's interesting. Modern engines require thinner oils generally it appears.

also ..fwiw, it's not uncommon to find the tops of inline four vw engines having the tops of their cam followers failing, or starting to fail. Talkin' stock engines . not performance cams,. ratio rockers or anything like that.

and many more modern engines have roller cam followers.. Subaru starting in 1999. that must mean sumthin' .
