Rust Demons IX- Down Under Last night I had the distinct privilege to do a leisurely walkabout under my 91 DOKA. I arrived early at class (as usual) and made sure I got the bay with the lift. I wanted to do an exploratory bit of test "trenching” into the undercoating where I thought the rust demons might be lurking. I prepared by bringing a head lamp, a camera, and lots of implements of destruction. My plan was to remove the spare tire (or tyre, for those of you spelling from across the pond), and take all my tools out of the cab and leave the doors slightly open so I could inspect the underside of them as well when it was raised. Well, that was what I thought would happen. Funny how reality comes along and bites you in the butt. The lift wasn't working quite so well, so I could only sort of slide underneath on a creeper. The good news is it was surprisingly good looking under there. Nothing to complain about that I could see. So I pulled up that black stuff from inside the cab driver side and found a small hole that was hidden from underneath by a frame member. After cleaning, cutting, welding and grinding- No Hole! What a big difference in accomplishment for me from the first day of class. I must be learning something.

More inconsistencies- The two front doors on my DOKA have the door seals on the doors. So how come the third door has the door seal on the door frame? They are all doors, why not have the same sealing system?

ed- The Skillful; but still willing to email
