The motor I pulled worked fine for 4 months then all of a sudden it started to work then stop and start again and then is just stopped. This is why I originally thought it was a bad wire that was connecting then no connecting.

My mechanic friend looked at it and separated the motor from the regulator and it worked perfectly when connected to the switch but when it touches the regulator is shorts out the system. So we took my passenger side motor and put it on and it worked without shorting the system.

What could be wrong with the motor? I really don't want to throw money at something if I can fix it myself. We even opened the motor and did not see anything wrong in there. We sprayed brake cleaner then electrical spray. He added some Bulb grease to it as well. It worked perfectly till it touched the regulator.

ideas?

I will add one small note, in the bottom of the motor are two small rubber plugs, they should be removed to allow and water that gets in the motor to drain out ! One more place among hundreds that the VW rubber plug guy plugged the drain hole that the VW drain hole guy made - go figure ! AND, FLUID FILM or WURTH FILM used here is indispensable in protecting your rebuilt motor for the future. > > On 2011-08-05, at 12:00 AM, Automatic digest processor wrote: > >> It is possible to rebuild your motors.
