Mike:

Browsers are tools, not religions.  I don't "use" IE--except to
search the archives.  The list is a tool.  Searching the archives
should always be the first step.  Posting a question should be
the second.  I realize that many think the list is a place to
post stream-of-consciousness ramblings loosely connected to
Vanagons.  I think that is unfortunate.

The real heart of this is that many *always* have a reason why
they can't search the archives.  Currently the old HTML of
the listserv and the new Firefox et al is the easy reason.

BTW--you can search the archives by email.  The page describing it
even displays correctly in the current Firefox:

I say you can usually search the archives, find lots of info on
what you want, cull the good from the bad, and have answers quicker
than you can just post a question.  There is almost a rule, "The
first reply is always wrong," so you have to wait a while and sift
through the replies to be sure of an answer.

Yes, I'm having a curmudgeonly day.  I'll get over it.
