Nothing wrong with 4 alloys mounted and a steel spare EXCEPT... Folks should be reminded that the stock Vanagon steel wheel requires different lug nuts/bolts than the Carat alloy wheels. Ball face seats on steel wheel vs conical face seats on the alloys.

I don't see what's wrong with 4 alloys and 1 plain steel rim for a spare . as 4 reconditioning all I've ever done is repaint them with metallic silver automotive paint not rattlecan stuff and they have held up fine . Jeff

Well a set is FIVE not FOUR. The spare should be the same as the rest.
Most used alloys IMHO need reconditioning which makes them almost as expensive as new wheels.

Good Luck! I'm in Virginia and trying to sell the same. You may be in the the same boat, they are only expensive, hard to find, valuable, etc. when you are looking to BUY a set. When selling they aren't worth squat! Jeff

This question is an 'if' type question. I have to replace a couple of tires. I'm thinking about ordering a set of 15" tires/wheels from Van Cafe. If I do I will have a set of four VW factory 14" alloy wheels with three good Hakka 185R14 CS tires left over. I have no place at all to store these. So, if I order the 15" wheels/tires is there anyone in the Puget Sound area (I'm in Lynnwood, just north of Seattle) that would want to buy the 14" alloys with the Hakka CS tires, about half tread, one of which is badly worn on one edge (bad camber setting on the left front)? I'd want these picked up in a day or two after I get the other tires/wheels and that would be about a week or ten days from now. If anyone is really interested and would pick them up with a day or two notice then what are they worth to you? Make an offer, just don't be to insulting. And again, this is an 'if I do' type question/offer. You can pmail me at starwagen@gmail.com .
