dear gasious clay
tried to store diesel on the luggage tie down area using a small jerry can
and discovered that as the swelling occurred also a small stream of fluid
began to escape and. run down the window .... there was no actual luggage
rack on the t25 California model ... so I can imagine the issue becoming
even more of a problem with a dish in place to collect the over flow ...
nothing like a puddle of gasoline resting overhead to enliven life ....
Sword of Damocles like indeed ...
we abandoned the carry along more as impractical ... so unless you are going
to be seriously off road (more than 2 hours return to fetch fuel) I would
suggest carry more may be a drag ... you can always get the auto club road
side assistance to fetch you some if you are out (again , so long as you are
not off road)
if you really want to attend to your paranoia of being found wanting for
fuel ... install a trailer hitch and get a platform that
mounts on / in the trailer hitch and get a proper Jerry can that mounts in
the secure location to the rear ... if you do that consult some other
vanagoniters who have done similar to see how you can open the hatch and
engine service door with out having to unload the platform ....
good luck .... but again I wonder if really need to complicate your sojourn
with 5 gallons of volatility hanging aboot ( me canadian )
regards
