Ian,

There seems to be a misunderstanding about what I posted today. I have not been thinking that the temps I am seeing are abnormal. I don't know where that idea came from, probably lousy writing on my part.

What I was reporting on was whether running the oil at a lower level would result in lower temps, and that's all. I did not see the predicted temp reduction and was simply reporting that fact.

I did this because what you wrote was "To answer your question I think that you will see LOWER oil temps if you reduce the level close to the add mark." (July 20)

And regarding my torque question about oil plug gaskets. Sorry if it was a silly one. Some of you have been working on engines and cars since you were kids. My background is electronics and I don't have the intuitive grasp given to you by your years of experience.
