I don't own an Engel so I can't comment on that. But all the refrigerators I have owned, except for the power hog Dometic, cycle on and off. When on, they draw continuous current between 2 to 3 amps.

If you find that the voltage on the aux battery end of the charging wire is less than at the starter battery end, then you can work your way from one end to the other with yer handy volt-o-meter to find where the loss is occurring.

Someone else will need the chime in here -- I built my own battery isolator setup using a big relay and stuff.
