I've been reading the thread on kayaks on the Westy issue. My husband when available, throws them on top of those one dollar noodles for swimming pools and lashes them down. This doesn't work for me to get them down, having serious issues with lifting and a bad back. I have cheated (when I'm alone) by laying the back seat down and putting our 12.5' and 10.5' right in the back of the van on their sides running up between the front seats. This obviously needs to be done with the kayaks clean and dried off. Which I might add the waterways ask that your boats be clean and not contaminate other waterways. Of course this is problematic if you need anything from the back. I just make a point to get organized and if I forget something, I just slide them back to a point where I can get what I need. It is really nice to slide in and out of the back though. Since my back was broken many years ago and fused, there are limitations which always come with giving something up. I'm thinking any boat over 12.5' might not work, size wise. The 12.5' just touches the dash. Mary Creasy 85 Westy 93 Euro 04 Audi A6
