The 2 WD rotors are casting and the full piece is part of its strength. There is no way that I would machine off the disc and then use the center remains as the only wheel support.

You can make your own. It's just quite a bit harder on a 2wd as you have to machine the rotors down to hubs and build a more elaborate spacer for the modified carrier. It's been done. There are posts on thesamba on how. You will save quite a bit.
