While I usually side with the factory for most design features I question the sold copper crush washer on a steel plug going into aluminum threads. You have to distort the threads for this to tighten and seal. Why?

Look for the Dorman or Oil-Tite board at the FLAPS. There are a number of 14mm options. The three pack of the white nylon gaskets work really well. They also have a metal gasket-crush washer that actually crushes that fits perfectly. Then there is the solid copper washer if you really want it.

To remove a small amount of oil remove the filter and empty it out or just change it. .
