I don't think it is paranoia to worry about have enough gas. Depends where live I guess. Going to Utah a lot, there are plenty of places you have to plan ahead for gas. I got to the Maze district of Canyonlands Nat Park and had filled up at the closest station prior. By the time I got there, I had about 1/2 tank. I didn't get to explore as much as I wanted to. 5 extra gallons would have been nice.

Not sure why your boat gas tank swelled. They should have pressure reliefs built in. I used 6 gallon boat tanks on my ski boat and hit a lot more bumps than I could in my van, occassionally there was a dribble. I always thought a replacement tank for a generator would be a nice fit in the luggage compartment up top. The kind that fits on the top of the generator frame and is only about 4" deep. I was thinking that would be good tank for a shower system.

The other empty space I would like to utilize is between the frame rails on the sliding door side. Either a tank there, or tool box or a trap door storage area?
