I have CTS - carpel tunnel syndrome, and ulnar nerve entrapment.

That larger diameter of grip and the greater diameter of the wheel, helps relieve the pressure on your hands, wrists, and elbows, thus reducing the pressure on the nerves in the wrists that leads to CTS and relieves the pressure on the the elbow, taking pressure off the ulnar nerve. All this is why power steering is a big advantage. But if you don't have PS, this bigger wheel and grip does help dramatically.
