Greetings Raimund,

I do not mean any disrespect but Germany is smaller than just the State of Montana. Although not all States are that size, we have 50 of them in the US. Compare areas:

US 9,826,630 sq km DE 357,021 sq km

I don't drive as much as many of the folks on this group. But I have been on trips where I drove for more than 2 hours w/ seeing a single public building.

Moreover, the prevailing thinking here seems to place the greater burden on the private sector to provide public toilet facilities. The private sector isn't always happy to let people use their restrooms (as we euphemistically call them here) to non-customers.;-(

We don't want to cry "...wee, wee, wee, all the way home."

BenT
