Just FYI, I've stopped using the bucket with liner and absorbent
materials (kitty litter, etc.) for a couple reasons.
1. I change out the bags every couple days because they just get nasty.
So thar I am, a few bags of doo-doo in a second 5-gal bucket at the end
of the trip. And no matter how well sealed, it's kinda stinky, and the
aroma permeates the plastic of the bucket, creating a lingering memory
of dumps of days past. ("Hmmm . . . that was good chili!")
2. Once home, I am not in the least comfortable tossing the bags into
the trash. It ain't right. Although I'm certain that folk toss their
disposable baby diapers there all day long.
So I switched over to a Dometic commode. It's heavier than a bucket, but
pretty darn stink-leak-proof and the contents, being septic system grade
toilet paper, dumpage, and black water tank deodorant, are easier to
dispose of down the toilet. A bit at a time so as not to choke the
system, and care must be taken to avoid splashage.
It's a bit clumsy, and the commode, having an upper tank with "flush"
water in it and a lower tank filling up with waste products, is a bit
heavy and sloshy, but in terms of disposal and stinkage, it's a solution
I'm happier with.
