I have seen a set looses their 'brilliance' ......or nice subtle control on
a vanagon over 90,.000 miles or so.
I have also put them on a perfectly fine 2WD vanagon and thought they were
'all right' ..as opposed to 'brilliant' like they were immediately when
installed on a mercedes car of mine, and a turbo Volvo sedan.
I have also changed to 15 inch wheels with Michelin agilles tires on a
vanagon with HD Bilsteins on it ..
and then though the shocks were 'specially good' and 'just right.' where
with the previous 14 inch wheels and tires the shocks didn't seem so
special.
on the bumper test ..
as long as rebound is damped out immediately ......they working.
I like some nose dive under bracking some myself.
I'd say they get slightly 'off' in say 40,000 miles. But they're still
working ...just not like new.
I also had one click on bumps ..
like a faulty front shock, with only about 4,000 miles on it.
the replacement for it was free .
