Subject: v-belts

This was a timely topic since I recently had a belt problem. Driving back from LA and over the Kern County Mountains into the Central Valley the alternator belt began to squeal at times. About 2 hours from home I figured I would adjust later since the rest of the way home was flat. Suddenly the lights begin to flash and the gauge going up fast. All 3 belts were off and coolant from the front end of my 88 Wolfsburg was gushing. Towed home, a plastic coolant line split up front. Must have been additional pressure from the fast warming. New SS pipes are now installed. Of course my wife thinks its time for a better car. it was not the cars fault, it gave me the warning but I was slow to react. One the the reasons I bought the "silver bullit" so I could fix and drive. I just wanted to share. Doug Fresno 88 wolfsburg
