What is the "head seal"?

If it's the top (throttle shaft) seal, it can be done without removing the pump.

If it's the front seal, it can be done in a short time if the pump is out. All in all a four hour job or less. If the front seal has failed, it's probably because the bushings are worn out, and going in and fixing that will take a total pump teardown. Best to put in a fresh seal if you are on the road, maybe.

This is why I carry a spare pump in the closet of my westy.

Let us know.

Jim
