OH, you wanted actual advice concerning the question you originally posted? Well that's a horse of a different color altogether! Why didn't you say so?

I have a webarchive of somebody's—don't know whose—excellent project to cross match all the 2.1 vanagon hoses to NAPA part numbers. I know it doesn't necessarily match up with everything Squirrel's 1.9 would need, but it's a start. If anybody wants it, just email me because it will be stripped out on the list.

This would be a good project for a 1.9 owner to complete. The author says he took a set of 2.1 hoses into a NAPA and they did the matching. Too bad I don't know who to credit for this. Maybe someone does.

As far as hose clamps, one or two spares of good quality german hose clamps is always a good idea. You can easily measure the hoses you have for that. In fact, it would make better economic sense and to replace the clamps--they're cheap--because you can't look at a clamp and tell if it's going to fail. That, and silicon mending "magic" tape by any of its various names, and something better than those 6-in-1 screwdrivers that we all carry. You can't get everywhere you need with them, so carry a stubby and a really long one.
