perhaps you haven't dug deep enough in that book. I would expect it to be in there...

the relay under the driver's seat .. in almost all westy's , since it's used to supply 12 V to the fridge while under way, aux battery fitted or not ....... is clever. It energizes only when the alternator kicks in. Exactly what you want .. since you don't want both batteries joined when you turn on the key .. you only want the starting battery in the picture then .. and it automatically kicks into charging the aux battery ..or at least power to the fridge for the 12V function, when alternator starts charging.

I even connect my red cockpit LED floorlighting to that relay sometimes . that nice circuit really should be in Bentley somewhere.
