I better get busy then. and post my two tone 84 for sale.. it's a gorgeous cream white on top .. nice lightish blue on the bottom. a basic "L" model, no AC or PS ..manual trans. barely one ding in the body ....less than zero rust. perfect brown vynyl interior , and I have a rebuilt 1.9 wbxr to install in it. and ..it currently has an Adventurewagon rear bed in it. And it lives in a very dry climate. Two tone is nice .. and my first vanagon ever ( 82 diesel GL ) was that tan and brown .. can't say I ever was that nutty about those two colors though .. and in general..... A two tone paint job is kinda exotic. Lots to play where there..the two colors juxtaposed to each other. All part of vanagon fun. my 82 Sunroof very cherry Diesel Vanagon for sale is two tone.. and my 83 5-speed Sunroof DV ...FS also, when done with 1.6 TD .......is two tone. and the 84 blue and white above .......called Cream n' Sky sometimes, that van. - all two tone. this 84 is reminiscent of puffy white clouds on a nice spring day. what is the last year of two tone paint jobs ? Right now I can't think of anything later than 84 ...................?? scott www.turbovans.com sothern oregon ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stephen Grisanti" <bike2vcu@YAHOO.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Wednesday, August 31, 2011 10:42 AM Subject: Re: Craigslist Ad
I guess the sellers think the hippie buyers all have money. There are two hardtop vans on the Richmond VA CL right now for prices I think are a tad high. Heck, they're both two-tone so that must be it. Small moto on the front, some mountain bikes on the back, dog and a kid wandering around on the street nearby. They were picking up a couple of dreadlocked white fellows, younger with a Rasta beanie on one. The other was playing a Diggery-do (spelling?) It sounded pretty strange, like those things do, I guess, as I passed by. It is good to see the tradition has not been totally lost. I bet they had a few rednecks yelling at them as they went by, too.... Don Hanson |
