Oettiker clamps are probably the best. They take a special tool, but sometimes you can get by using a pair of large dikes if there's enough room. Regular screw-type hose clamps are a last resort - the ones with holes for "threads" tend to cut into the boots, and all types are imbalanced, which may or may not be an issue. I wouldn't expect a zip tie to add anything except the _appearance_ of clamping.

They're called Schnoor washers, and should be available from most vendors. They're lock washers, which work much better than common split-ring ones when used with the hardened CV bolts. You don't want to go without them.
