You know, I have never had good long term luck with gas powered soldering irons. The orifice or some where in the gas flow line gets plugged up or something over time. Maybe i have been buying cheap ones. I am intruiged by the battery powered ones, my friend has one made by Weller and it seems like a well made tool, but I suspect it doesn't have the power/heat to easily solder some of the vanagon connections. alistair
