I did a google search on "oil breakdown temperature", some interesting reading. This site http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/281441 >> says most oils start to break down at temperatures above 260F. <<

There were other like numbers at some different sites. Is the "answer bag" a reputable web site? Beats me ... But if I was really concerned I'd change the oil.
