Subject: Mirror fix that really works
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Hi folks,

Just kind of lurking after selling my '84 Westy in 2006 and purchase an EVC. That was a dumb mistake. Maybe there is another Vanagon in my future, who knows. Maybe even a Eurovan MV or weekender, but probably no more campers.

Nice to see so many familiar names still hanging on to these antiques!

Anyway, all the advice is great, but even after doing all that stuff my mirrors would still flop, and the problem was that tightening them was pulling out the shaft, so they would just loosen up again.

The REAL permanent fix is to drive the shaft in fully and drill a 1/16" hole through the plastic arm that goes through the shaft and pin it. Worked permanently (at least for five years before I sold it)!

Stuart
