Steve,

Is the 1.8L 87 GTI on it's way out, like smoking badly or something?

I'm one of the more hard-core diesel nuts, yet I understand the GTI transplant is especially nice, and seriously considered such a swap in my '85 before I had Scott Daniel install a 1.9L AAZ turbodiesel. I really like the way the 1.9 TD drives, but if I already had a good GTI gasser I would not seriously be considering a diesel swap, at least not until I wore the GTI totally out!

Maybe you're like me, I looked at the gas swaps available, and it finally came down to just liking the sound and smell of a diesel over gas!
