Subject: Jetta Conversion: Exhaust Bracket Redo PICS. Questions

Hi all.

Low Kb images of what I intend to do:

This would re-use the old bracket I made. I would cut upper 1/2 of half moon, make it narrower, shape it better to the cat and either weld it or clamp it on.

I've seen the driver-side support arm done this way on Tiicos. From FAS website:

Would this create a hot spot on the cat? Can anyone see why I shouldn't do this? Would welding bracket on be better than clamping bracket on? I have a big clamp that was holding this bracket to the muffler.

The goal is to better brace the cat/muffler as a "unit" to stave off any more cracks at muffler or cat pipes. Welding the arm to the cat inlet may be better, but on my exhaust, it seems doing that would put arm close to one fastener and possibly the O2 sensor.

Thanks,

Neil.
