regarding PO wiring modifications. My very first VW camper, a 71 sportsmobile purchased in about 1983 had a bunch of crazy wiring. When I bought it, the ignition coil was wired to one of the taillights. To run, you turned on the lights, to stop the engine you turned them off. It was just a handy switched wire in the engine compartment I guess. Anyway, when I got a wiring diagram and went through it all, I ended up just putting everything back to stock and it worked perfectly. No idea why someone went down the road to crazy modification in the first place. You may also be that lucky. Edward |
