Another idea might be to cross drill a hole through arm and shaft and install a roll pin; then it's still removable by knocking out the pin. Today I investigated. I took the nut and lock washer off to find that there are no splines left on the shaft. Bummer. I figured I could just tighten up the nut and be good to go for a while at least right? Well in tightening the nut, I found the threads to be stripped..... it won't tighten at all. As it stands I no longer have a drivers side windshield wiper. I presume this job requires removal of the dash right? I was hoping not to have to do that until winter. Can it be done without dash removal? How bad of an idea is it to JB weld the thing on there..... for now?
