There is little difference between the Hella and Bosch H4 headlights other than the price. Because I have them on factory closeout for $44 a pair, the Bosch are about half the price of the Hellas, so this is really a no-brainer (assuming you have an '80-85). These headlights are an absolute steal at the price - well below wholesale. If you have an '80-85 and are still using the stock sealed-beam headlights, you would be crazy not to snap up a pair of these while they're available at that price. You can add the 55/60 watt bulbs linked on that page ($3.95 each) and just replace your stock headlights with them, with no modifications or rewiring required:

If you want to kick it up a notch, you can also add a relay kit and higher-output 90/100 watt bulbs to the above Bosch headlights. This will give you the best possible lighting on your '80-85 Vanagon. We have a turn-key package that includes the aforementioned Bosch H4's, the high-output bulbs, relays, wiring, and instructions, for $99 complete:

If you have an '86-91 (rectangular headlights), the above options don't apply to you. Your cheapest upgrade is our VisionKit 2, which includes higher-output bulbs along with relays, wiring, and instuctions. It uses your existing rectangular housings but increases light output substantially. Most people find this upgrade sufficient, as well as affordable ($75):

A pricer alternative ($399) is to upgrade to the 4-headlight South African grill, which switches you over to the round Bosch headlights and also adds inner driving lights:

You can go a step further by adding both the 4-headlight grill kit AND a relay kit with 90/100w bulbs, at a total cost of $468, by ordering this combination:

http://busdepot.com/details.jsp?partnumber=1495A and http://busdepot.com/details.jsp?partnumber=VISIONKIT1 .

Hope this clears things up a bit.
