Are you sure the splines are gone??

the splines are hard metal (steel) the wiper arm socket it soft metal (pot?). The splines will be filled with the soft metal when the splines move and the arm doesn't. Its shears the metal off the arm socket. SO examine the splined shaft and dig around with a pick, awl, pin, and see if you can't chase the metal out of the splines.

And the threaded end, can you add another washer below the nut to move the nut away from stripped section? And try a new nut. alistair
