Dennis, It is lucky no one got injured. The tire crossed into the other lane of traffic - luckily no one was coming. It was not the lugs - it was the castle nut that came lose. Not sure the exact cause - and I have no idea who may have worked in there last. The last thing I had done was tires put on but nothing more than that. The lugs were tight and the tire took the brake drum and rear "hub" with it. wheel flange are you talking about the part that the lugs bolt into to attach the wheel? The part I refered to as a "hub". The spline on that look to be undamaged. I don't even see any type of scraping/gouging - nothing that shows any "trauma" at all. I appreciate the advice.
