Subject: Can Someone Please Shed Some Light....
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8

On interior dash lights? More specifically the little bulb that lights the heater controls. As I mentioned Friday I hit a junk yard and scored some good stuff. I always take all the little bulbs, fixtures, relays, etc. that I find in any van thats been junked. I had two dash lights that were not working-the heater controls and the auto P-R-N-D indicator-the later was easy, the bulb holders had fallen out. Now the heater controls have proven to be a bit more challenging. I'm not a patient man and I generally don't like using tools smaller than a hammer. But I have been sitting at my dining room table for two hours now with a 12v battery,3 bulb holders that go in the heater controls and 3 bulbs and NONE will light in the socket. All the bulbs test OK. Now I think I see the problem-there is a very small wire on each side of the socket-it appears pulling the bulb out of the socket can do one of two things or both: Destroy these two wires in the socket, or destroy the two little wires on the end of the bulb. I've even tried taking some very thin wire and hooking around the wires on the bulb and then feeding those down into the socket to the 12v and gnd strips on each side-that had limited success-I think that would work loose eventually. When ordering replacement bulbs for this light, does it come with the socket? My replacement instrument lights came that way. TIA, Jeff
